Vast open spaces... heavenly skies... antelope roaming freely... Hiking and Mountain Biking opportunities galore
BLOEMHOFKAROO is a historic home, once owned and loved by Professor Christiaan Barnard . The Homestead has four guest rooms and rests graciously in an oasis amongst kopjes on a working farm in the Malaria free, Northern Cape, Great Karoo. Located just 5km from the N1, BloemhofKaroo provides an accessible farm-style getaway for both one-night stops, and longer stays.
BloemhofKaroo is the ideal retreat for relaxing and rejuvenation of the soul, the perfect escape for:
Hiking, off road motorcycling and mountain biking enthusiasts will be enthralled and challenged by the varied terrain. Guests can relax in the Drawing Room, with a well-stocked characteristic bar, opening onto a protected braai area.
There are 2 Dining Rooms, and a Sunroom, so guests have opportunities for privacy or communal enjoyment. There are also lovely outside sitting areas, under enormous Pepper Trees. Refresh yourselves in the farm ‘Swemdam’.
Karoo sunsets are incredible... special time of day as the Karoo veld changes pace.
Sundowners on the Stoep or up at Kudu Rock are always a treat.
BloemhofKaroo is also proud of its beautiful Chapel, converted from a shed several years ago, and built entirely from rock taken off the farm.
For intimate weddings Bloemhof can sleep 14 guests on-site, as well as additional guests at the adjoining Private Game Reserve.
Please contact us for more information.
We’re conveniently situated 4,5km off the N1, 25km South of Richmond, Northern Cape and Families seem to feel like their holiday has really begun once they get to this oasis in the Karoo!
No better way for our guests to stretch travel-weary legs, than to enjoy a Sunset Stroll up to Kudu Rock, hopefully spotting some of our rare Antelope.
We are also great stop for guests traveling to the Knysna / Plettenberg Bay / Hermanus via spectacular Meiringspoort.
First prize would be to spend 2 nights at BloemhofKaroo and make it part of your holiday, possibly even the best part of your holiday!
“Farm Stay at its very best,” as a guest wrote a guest in our Visitors’ Book.
