At BloemhofKaroo, our wonderful ladies really understand the gentle art of Karoo care and hospitality.
Thrilled to have received this review from a guest!
“A friend recommended that we break up our trip from Cape Town to Bloemfontein and spend a night at Bloemhof Karoo near Richmond. They were raving about the place and they were not wrong!
From the moment we pulled up in front of the farmhouse, we were at home. Laura and her team could not do enough for us. Before we could blink we were having tea, coffee and rusks on the stoep. The silence was deafening.
There are no areas that are off limits so you are free to wander around. We chose to take a slow walk up to the koppie, 2km away. We felt so close to nature – Laura had told us if we want to feed the sheep we should be back by 16h30. What a wonderful experience standing among about 200 sheep – unfortunately no babies.
We were allocated the Barnard room – we were pleasantly surprised to find out when we enquired why it was called the Barnard room.. the famous heart surgeon Chris Barnard used to own the farm!
We had the best lamb pie and veggies I have ever had – it was really superb – followed by a homemade malva pudding. It’s worth mentioning that there are three dining rooms, so if there are other guests, you still have your privacy.
Laura told us not to miss the sunrise, and although it was hard getting out of bed so early, it was worth it! There is nothing like a Karoo sunrise.
After a hearty breakfast, we were on our way with one regret… one night is not enough!
Thank you Laura and the team for a truly memorable stay!”
